Sell More on the Fourth of July

The lazy days of summer can translate into slower sales for some Amazon sellers, but the Fourth of July offers a great opportunity to increase your profits.  Independence Day is also a great time to try out new marketing techniques.  You can take advantage of a slower shopping season to experiment with selling strategies that you can carry into the mega-shopping season that kicks after summer starts to cool ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Here are a few Fourth of July-themed ideas to rev up your summer sales:

  • Dress up your website. In the lead-up to the holiday, add themed graphics to your website.  These could include homepage banners, stock photography, or red, white, and blue backgrounds.  If you don’t want to switch out your current photos, try adding a holiday overlay.  You can even add a countdown timer to your site tracking the days, hours, and minutes leading to Independence Day.
  • Create a holiday shopping guide. A few weeks before the holiday, send out emails to your customer base promoting your guide.  Fill the guide with Fourth of July-themed merchandise—anything from a red, white, and blue fidget spinner to grill tools to patriotic apparel.  You’d be surprised at the many ways that you can give a holiday spin to your merchandise.  As the Fourth approaches, send out additional emails promoting discounts on certain items and free expedited shipping.
  • Feature veterans on social media. To capitalize on the nation’s patriotic spirit, consider introducing your social media audience to veterans. If any of your employees are veterans, start with them.  You can also feature veterans from the city that you are located in.  You can post photos or videos of interviews with the veterans. Present the vets with a free product and put that product on sale on your website.  Offer to donate some of the profits to an organization that supports former and current military members.
  • Host a patriotic product launch. The Fourth of July is a great time to roll out a new product or service.  Build excitement leading up to the launch using social media and email.  When you finally debut the product on Independence Day, make sure you offer a 1-Click shipping option.
  • Write themed blogs. If you write a weekly blog, try working in some patriotic content.  You can also use the blogs to announce holiday-themed products.
