Tom Romary is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for Lending Club, and is responsible for driving key partnerships for the company in the small business arena. He has built partnerships for Lending Club with Alibaba, Sam’s Club, Ingram Micro, zulily, Mind Body, and more. Prior to joining LendingClub, he worked at Foundation Capital in San Francisco. Tom is an entrepreneur and a product innovator with over 20 years of experience in consumer and technology businesses. He was the co-founder and CEO of Yapta, the leading airfare and hotel rate tracker which disrupted the online travel category. Prior to founding Yapta, he served as VP of Marketing at Alaska Airlines, where he managed the award-winning “Mileage Plan” loyalty program, Alaska Air Vacations, and was responsible for over $400 Million in revenue and 2,500 employees including all of Alaska’s flight attendants. Prior to Alaska Airlines, he was VP of Consumer Marketing at Real Networks in Seattle where he launched the company’s music subscription business. Earlier in his career, Tom served as VP of Marketing of Fogdog.com, and helped lead the online sporting goods retailer to its IPO in 1999.
Tom has an engineering degree from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard. He is an avid traveler and outdoorsman, and has climbed Mt. McKinley in Alaska and 27k foot Cho Oyu in the Himalayas. Tom has qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon twice and has completed 4 Ironman triathlons. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three boys.
