You’re Never Too Old to Stop Reading

Read Across America Day is coming up on Friday, March 2.  The observance is part of a larger initiative that was developed by the National Education Association in 1997 to shine a spotlight on the importance of reading.  March 2 was originally chosen as the day of the annual celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

We hear about the importance of reading for young children.  It improves vocabulary and writing.  It also expands kids’ imagination, creative thinking abilities, and knowledge.  But reading is critical for adults, too.  In adulthood, reading continues to be important as it provides mental stimulation that can help stave off cognitive disorders, reduce stress, improve focus, and help us become more open-minded by exposing us to ideas and cultures that are different from our own.

Adults benefit greatly from reading daily.  The possibilities are endless in the Information Age.  You can read professional journals, self-help books, online articles relating to your industry, inspirational biographies, or adventure-filled fiction.

If you are an entrepreneur, reading is especially important as your livelihood depends on your creativity, innovation, and critical thinking—all of which improve as you read more.

Here are just a few of the best books for entrepreneurs:
